Highlights
In all of Ferrari history, the Italian automaker has only produced three models that share the GTO designation: the 1962 250 GTO, the 1984 288 GTO, and the 2011 599 GTO. The acronym GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologato , which is Italian for Grand Touring Homologated. While the first two GTOs were produced with track racing in mind, the 2011 GTO was made solely for road-legal driving. Nonetheless, when the 599 GTO was released it was the fastest Ferrari road car at the time, beating out the Ferrari Enzo by a second on the Fiorano test circuit. As far as looks, the 599 GTO shares many of the same features as its 1962 predecessor including front-engine, rear-drive design, excellent weight distribution, and nolders on the rear decklid. However, the 599 GTOs manettino dial, Italian for little hand, located on the steering wheel sets the difference in performance. The five settings on this dial command the cars traction control, stability control, and shift responses. The dials third race setting is where the magic happens, as the transmissions automatic shift is reduced to a seemingly impossible 60 milliseconds. Considering its incredible speed, the 599 GTO may have not been made for the race track but it certainly deserves the mantle of Gran Turismo Omologato . This chassis number 175857 comes with a suite of additional factory options that elevate it even amongst its small number of 598 peers. The GTOs exterior appearance is accentuated by 20 in. colored challenge rims and red six piston brake calipers that pair perfectly with the marques renowned Corsa Red paint. On the inside, colored safety belts, colored stitchings, and elegant interior trimming alongside leather upholstery make for a presentation befitting a work of art. The GTOs rear shelf was upholstered in leather as well to match the rest of the interior, and an included handy fire extinguisher just so happens to match the cars color scheme. Treat the 599 well, and the fire extinguisher will only ever be an ornamental decoration. Lastly, a Bose HiFi system allows any music to compete with the thrum of the engine. This GTO also saw a complete reservice in January of 2021 and is ready to crush the race track. Thanks to its manettino dial, the 599 GTO is operable by drivers of every skill level. But for those who enjoy facing death-defying thrills, the manettinos fourth and fifth settings will quickly have you doubting the 599s street-legal status. Specs: 6.0L Tipo F140 C/CE V12 engine, F-1 Superfast 6-speed sequential manual paddle shift transmission, 20 in. colored challenge rims, Red six piston brake calipers, Manettino racing dial with five settings, Complete reservice 1/2021 SCM2 suspension control system, CCM2 carbon ceramic braking system, F-1 TRAC traction system, Elegant interior trimming with colored safety belts and red stitching, Leather upholstery and rear shelf, Bose HiFi audio system, Handy fire extinguisher.
